The Michigan Dept of Agriculture and Rural Development voted to adopt new rules for the definition of a livestock facility under the Michigan Right to Farm Act. The new rules allows local units of government to prohibit livestock production facilities near residential areas. Previously the state law provided protection to farmers from local zoning disparities in different municipalities. What are your thoughts on this? I can understand both sides of the issue.
