The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, will conduct an HIV/AIDS/STI Peer Educators Workshop for secondary school students who will enter third form in the upcoming school year. The workshop is designed to train a cadre of students to become strong advocates for HIV prevention and the reduction of HIV-related discrimination. We are all aware of the enormous influence which peers have on each other. This workshop and the eventual activities that will be implemented in the secondary schools will harness this powerful influence as we seek to get to zero new HIV infections and zero discrimination. The themes which will be addressed include the basics of HIV and AIDS, stigma and discrimination, peer pressure, conflict resolution, communication and HIV prevention. The facilitators will be drawn from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment and Civil Society Organizations. The workshop will be held at the Methodist Church Hall, Kingstown, July 1st to 3rd, commencing at 9:00 a.m. daily. Luis de Shong Permanent Secretary
