The Missing Umbrellas I remember the story and the emphatic - TopicsExpress

The Missing Umbrellas I remember the story and the emphatic punch line, but not the name of the central figure – a priest who was known as the man whose prayers were always answered. Let’s give him a name – Father John? Ok. The village had not seen a drop of rain for years. Ponds and wells had run dry. In desperation, the village turned to the priest. Father John turned up for the prayer meeting and prayed as earnestly and long as he had always done, perhaps more. When the ‘amen’ was finally said, father John rose from his knees, dusted his trousers and startled everybody with this announcement – “It’s NOT going to rain.” Hope quickly turning to despair, the people shouted as one “Why, Father John, Why”? Picking up his bag, Father John took a deep breath and said “Because none of you brought an umbrella. You would have if you really believed that God would answer our prayers for rain”. Are you carrying your umbrella? This lovely song that I found a little while back says it all. Listen to it and be blessed Happy Sabbath all. https://youtube/watch?v=xz0JOfl9luA
