The Morning Report Grayson is home. He is looking great. He is - TopicsExpress

The Morning Report Grayson is home. He is looking great. He is back in his old paddock and is quickly reverting o his old ways. He was very nervous about getting in the trailer to come home but loaded like a trooper and was tied in the trailer. He wasn’t real sure what was happening but like a trooper he was nervous but didn’t act up. After arriving home, he unloaded great and I lead him into his paddock. His paddock has a lot of grass in it and a few weeds plus a round bale of hay for him to munch on. We didn’t take his halter off and turned him loose. The exploring began, he wandered all over the paddock sniffing and looking and then the tasting of the grass began. He was like a kid with a new toy, huge mouthfuls of grass were the answer and we watched him for a few minutes and tried to call him to us but we understood that he was extremely busy. He was looking for Eeyore and Mathew and could see them and was a lot more interested in them than us. We went to the house to let them settle in. We took Molly with us and she had a great time. We were in Kathy’s truck which is an extended cab truck not a four door like mine, so when I opened the door, she went to the front seat. It took a few minutes to convince her that she was supposed to be in the back seat but we were finally able to get her there. When we arrived at the stable and parked; she got in the front seat again. Kathy found her there when she had to write a check for the feet being done on Grayson. She tried to get Molly to get back in the back seat was it was to no avail. When we had Grayson loaded and tied in there and I went to the driver’s seat, she was sitting in it. I spoke to her and told her to get in the back seat and she went back there like a champ. She stayed in the back seat while we unloaded Grayson and unhooked from the trailer and then when we parked the truck and opened the door; she didn’t really want to get out but did when I ask her. She really seemed to enjoy the short ride and may be going with us more often. After a few hours, I went down to check on Grayson and he has decided that he likes this paddock and doesn’t really want to be caught. I was able to get him to come to me for a couple of treats but he wouldn’t let me grab his halter. I was busy on the computer when Sebastain fed so I wasn’t there to grab his halter while he was eating but we will learn that when we go down there it is not up to him whether he is caught or not. Shannon, the trainer will be coming by and riding him in the pasture and maybe training Sebastain on riding him. We are glad to have him home and he is still a very pretty horse, now folks will have to ride him to keep him tuned up. I brought the tractor home yesterday and found a leak in a seal from the front driveshaft so that has to be repaired before we move to the big hat field. Of course it was late and the dealership to get parts is close on Saturday so it will be Monday before the parts will be able to be purchased and it appears that some of them are not in stock so it might be later in the week before we can start down there. I don’t suppose I ought to complain, we bought the tractor new, shortly after we retired and this is the first time it has been down and unable to work. I’m thinking that we’ve had it about 7 to 10 years and have put 2000 hours on it so I think that is a good record. Y’all have a great and wonderful day and remember to take a moment to smell the roses! Also just to let you know that we are eating lettuce from our tower gardens and the tomatoes are growing like weeds. The cucumbers are starting to put on their leaves and are also growing but this is another story maybe tomorrow.
