The Morris Museum of Art’s Southern Soul & Song Enters New Decade with New Acts Announcing the 2013–2014 Concert Series Lineup Augusta, GA (JUNE 2013): As the Morris Museum of Art’s Budweiser True Music Southern Soul & Song enters its second decade, it’s changing its tune a bit. This year, this popular concert series, which includes five shows and ten acts between September 2013 and February 2014, introduces more new artists to Augusta than have ever appeared in one season. “Over its first ten years, Southern Soul & Song has featured many legendary performers in several uniquely Southern musicalgenres—bluegrass, country, Americana, gospel, roots, and jazz. Everyone from Doc Watson and Del McCoury to Pam Tillis and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band have appeared here,” said Kevin Grogan director of the Morris Museum of Art and producer of Southern Soul & Song. “This year, the series is introducing many artists who have never before performed in Augusta—among them Grammy Award-winning Americana musician Rodney Crowell, legendary Americana singer-songwriters Darrell Scott and Tim O’Brien, elder statesman of the Texas music scene Ray Wylie Hubbard, and twenty-two-year-old songstress Sierra Hull, who has already been nominated for five Grammy Awards. It promises to be a wonderful season, one we’ll look back on with great pleasure.” The 2013–2014 lineup: September 13, 2013—Mountain Heart with guest Lera Lynn October 18, 2013—The Grascals with guest Audie Blaylock and Redline November 15, 2013—Blue Highway and Sierra Hull January 17, 2014—Tim O’Brien and Darrell Scott February 14, 2014—Rodney Crowell and Ray Wylie Hubbard All shows are on Fridays, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the historic Imperial Theatre, 745 Broad Street in downtown Augusta.
