The Most Beautiful Park in #Zagreb #Maksimir Park Maksimir is the oldest and most beautiful public park in Zagreb. Established by Bishop Maksimilijan Vrhovac in 1784, and redesigned in the 19th century under Bishop Juraj Haulik the park was located on the outskirts of Zagreb and has through time seen the city grow around it. Maksimir has interconnected waking trails which are also good for bicycle driving or running and has five small lakes, on which also boats can be rented. There are a couple of structures in the parks which are worth visiting. Close to the entrance which is marked by a portal is the Gardeners House, build in 1874. The beautiful Viewpoint pavilion, built in 1843, which can be seen from the main entrance seem to be under permanent reconstruction. A smaller pavilion, built in 1840, produces a fun echo from which it gets its name. Near the Viewpoint pavilion stands the Swiss House, built in 1840, in which also refreshment can be found. The Park has also a chapel, dedicated to Saint George. Maksimir park is situated only few minutes from Rent Zagreb Apartments. There is also a monument in honor of bishop Haulik in the form of an obelisk. Two summer houses belonging to the bishop are located next to the park too. Another highlight is the monument Mogila, which marks the 1000 years of Croatian statehood. Made in 1925 it is situated on a mount made of soil brought together from 155 places located all around Croatia. The park also houses the city ZOO also worth checking out which all ads up to a half-day of exploration. The highlight of the ZOO is the daily feeding of sea lions whose pool is situated next to the ZOOs cafe.
