The Movie #Belle Absolutely Rocks! Stellar Cast & Acting, You Couldnt Ask For More From This Period Drama.. Heres A Snippet..... Directed by Amma Asante , this period drama explores the time when the actions and call for the abolishment of slavery was being pushed for by Lord Chief Justice Mansfield who was also the aristocratic great uncle and guardian of the main character Belle. The movie delves into the subjects of: race, identity, gender, power, love, romance, class and propriety. Oddly and refreshingly [not norm] for that period in history, a half-cast woman of colour [Belle] birthed by a black African mother and white father [John Lindsay-Mansfields nephew] was begrudgingly taken into high society and treated if not fully accepted.
