The Mutual Defense Treaty between the Republic of the Philippines - TopicsExpress

The Mutual Defense Treaty between the Republic of the Philippines and the United States of America was established to strengthen the efforts of the two governments to collective self-defense for the preservation of peace and stability in the Pacific Area. The treaty contains eight articles which encourages both nations to support one another if either the Philippines or the United States were to be attacked by an external party. Under Article 1 of The Mutual Defense Treaty between the Republic of the Philippines and the United States of America, it states that both parties shall refer to the Charter of the United Nations to settle any international disputes through peaceful means. The first article of the Mutual Defense Treaty can be deemed as a combination of paragraphs 2 and 3 of Article 2 of the Charter of the United Nations which states that all member states shall act in good faith and settle international disputes through peaceful means in such a way that international peace and security will not be put into risk. In addition, paragraph 4 of the same article states that all members are prohibited to the use of force in solving disputes regarding their international relations with other states. Just because INTLLAW feels. Hahahaha!
