The NSTA is pleased to welcome Dr. Donna Sears and Bruce Bishop as new members of its industry advisory board. Dr. Donna Sears is a faculty member in the F.C. Manning School of Business at Acadia University. She is also founding Director of the Atlantic Wine Institute. Dr. Sears research focuses on wine business – specifically wine tourism marketing. She holds an MBA from the University of New Brunswick (applications of technology to enable ecotourism) and a PhD from McGill University (experiential marketing). She has taught hospitality and tourism at the undergraduate level and served as interim director of the Bachelor of Applied Management in Hospitality and Tourism program (UNBSJ). Her work has been published and presented at tourism conferences – and in academic and industry journals – regionally, nationally, and internationally. Bruce Bishop, an alumnus of Saint Mary’s University and Ontario College of Art & Design University, has been working within the tourism industry since 1994, initially as a freelance travel writer for publications in five countries. He has been a contributor and author to several guidebook publishers, including Michelin Travel Publications. A former president of the Travel Media Association of Canada, Bruce was the first winner of the Cayman Islands Award for Excellence in Caribbean Travel Writing. He is a member of TIANS, the Yarmouth & Area Chamber of Commerce, and is a Director on the Board of the Yarmouth YMCA. His boutique integrated marketing agency, Bruce Bishop Communications Ltd., is based in Yarmouth. Both members have joined the board for 3-year terms.
