The NWS in reno has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for: extreme southeastern lassen county in northern California, northeastern sierra county in northern California, southwestern washoe county in western Nevada, Until 315 pm pdt. At 234 pm pdt, national weather service doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail, and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was located 7 miles southwest of hallelujah junction, or 7 miles south of chilcoot, and moving east at 15 mph. Locations affected include, stead, hallelujah junction, cold springs valley and lemmon valley. This storm is capable of producing heavy rainfall. Watch for ponding of water on roads. Drivers should slow down if encountering heavy rain to avoid hydroplaning, and remember to turn on their headlights.
