The Name above all names, insight #1: What does it mean to take on - TopicsExpress

The Name above all names, insight #1: What does it mean to take on the name of Christ? Does it mean a simple add on to the end of a prayer? Does mean to verbally take on a different culture than most around you? Does it mean to engage a positive hope for the future? Or does it mean much more than that, especially on a core level? Twice David sings in Psalm 8 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth. The Name(s) of God not only are alive with the characteristics of God, but they are names (words) above all names. The name Yeshua means God Himself, has become our salvation (safety, future, hope, promise, righteousness, deliverer, and care). Acts 4.12 teaches us there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved. The time will come when God, Himself, will make the pronouncement of that name in such a commanding way that every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth. To pray in the name of Yeshua (Jesus for the English readers) ought to mean that the one praying connects in their inner most being with both the absolute majesty and the radical compassion of the King of Kings and Savior of all who call on His name.
