The Nashville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors met yesterday - TopicsExpress

The Nashville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors met yesterday and President Staci Lockhart resigned for personal reasons. The meeting was run by President Elect Pam Smith. Treasurer Darlene Schomaker went through the bills that needed to be paid, as well as the bank statements. Her report was unanimously approved. Director Deanna Ball updated the Board about the Fall Festival moving right along. Since she was hired and took office on August 7th, she has been finding her way around and through the office and what her duties are. The Chamber has new members and that is Brown Brothers and Hillbilly BBQ. The Board approved a motion to have office hours weekdays from 9 AM to 3 PM, which is an hour later to open and open an hour later than previously. Ball reported that she doesn’t get much business from chamber members at 8 AM, as they are getting through the morning of opening up and dealing with the previous night, so she is still getting calls in the afternoon. More Chamber envelopes were needed and the Board approved the purchase of more from the Nashville News. Ball discussed a change from handing out bags at the Fall Festival to making them Welcome Wagon bags. She and other Board members mentioned that in the previous years they found the bags in the trash as people really didn’t want to carry them around all day and night. Instead the bags could be given to new businesses and families moving into Nashville. Ideas were discussed, but the subject was tabled until after Fall Festival and can be discussed further at the General Membership meeting. Another topic discussed, but not voted on, involved some sort of plaque or sign for a business to display on being a Chamber Member and for how long or for each year. Ball will get some pricing on different ways this can be done. The next meeting will be the General Membership meeting on Wednesday, September 10th at noon at Little Nashville. The General Membership meeting schedule will be at Buretta’s in October, at Mill Street Pizza in November and Eagle’s Nest in December for the holiday party, so mark your calendars.
