The National Council of Eritrean Americans Southern Regional Workshop Press Release! In the continuous pursuit to strengthen the effort of serving Eritrea and Eritreans, a historical initiative took place in Dallas/Fort Worth on Saturday, December 13th, 2014. Eritrean community organizers from Dallas, Austin, New Orleans and Houston came together for the 1st regional workshop under the theme “Harmony in Vision - Vanguard for Action”. Qnit Hasab- Merih Tegbar The all day workshop focused on creating cross generational and organizational synergy as well as articulating Eritreans shared vision and action plan. The workshop began insightful presentations given by representatives of the embassy of Eritrea in Washington, D.C. Dawit Haile and Hadnet Keleta followed by a group discussion amongst participants regarding the following topics: 1. Retain and promote the Eritrean culture and identity 2. Raise societies level of awareness 3. Encourage a dynamic and successful Eritrean citizenry 4. Serve Eritrea and Eritrean Communities Eritreans in Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, Houston and New Orleans continue to realize the significance of their role in ensuring we continue to build a strong community. The event displayed the emerging growth of YPFDJ, PFDJ, PFDJ II, NUEW, and Mekete in the Southern Region. In the end participants were given an overall perspective of the mission and vision of our future. On the following day Sunday December 14 seminar on current affairs of the state of Eritrea was given to the public. Mr. Dawit Haile addressed the audience Eritreas bright future the opportunities and the challenges that need to be concurred. Ms. Hadnet on her part discussed the state of Eritrean organizations in the diaspora via a vis PFDJ as vanguard idea. At the end the audience had the chance to ask questions and to address their opinions.
