The National Police Bravery award ceremony takes place today in Central London. Officers from across England and Wales have been nominated for acts of outstanding bravery, many situations where they have put themselves at great risk to save others. Our very own PS Alyson West and PC Adrian Starr will be attending after they were nominated for saving the life of an elderly lady from a house fire in Romsey. Hampshire Police Federation Chairman, John Apter said, We must remember, for every act of police bravery recognised many others go unrecognised. We must do more, much more to highlight at every opportunity the selfless acts of courage carried out by police officers and other members of the emergency services on a daily basis. I am tremendously proud of Alyson and Adrian and I know they have accepted the nomination on behalf of all of their colleagues, brave men and women who put the needs of others ahead of theirs on a daily basis. Pictures show the remains of the house in which Elizabeth was trapped, and the happier time when Elizabeth met the officers and thanked them for saving her life.
