The Network Austin Mixer held on Wednesday night, August 13th, was one of our most successful ever! The spontaneous show before the show featured 4 extremely talented young people from our audience. They rather confidently took to the stage and performed an adorable and funny version of SKID ROW from THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS! Our attendees were taken by surprise, loved it and lost themselves in laughter. Then, adding to the nights thrills, Shanna Merlin and Ted Rutherford of Merlin Works took the reins. They briefly spoke about themselves and Merlin Works, then put improv theory into practice by inspiring everyone in the audience, young and old, to participate in several games that teach some of the basics of improvisation. And once again, our attendees were laughing and relishing in their rediscovered spontaneity. Yes, Shanna and Ted had the entire audience on their feet participating! It is amazing how many talented people we had in that room! So, after consulting with Gary Wimmer, we have decided that the next Mixer, Wednesday, September 10th will be featuring YOU in a TALENT SHOWCASE!!! We are announcing this early so that you have time to plan your 2 - 3 minute act! Please bring a CD, if music is part of it. You can sing, dance, do stand-up, a monologue or whatever talent you wish to share! Just keep in mind that young people will be present, so keep it clean! And at 3 minutes, youll get the hook, so please make sure your act is no more than that! In order to register, email [email protected] and let me know what youll be doing. Ill be able to put together a schedule and will share that with all performers. We are going to start a little earlier than usual in order to accommodate all those wanting to appear in the Talent Showcase! Well start at 6:30PM and go until around 8ish! This is going to be fun and very entertaining! Agents and Casting Directors, you wont want to miss this Mixer! Come watch all the talented people who will be performing!
