The New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Women Judges cordially invites you to apply to be one of our 2014 Color of Justice Program Scholars. The 2014 Color of Justice Program will take place on February 28, 2015 at Seton Hall Law School in Newark, New Jersey. The Color of Justice Program was created by the National Association of Woman Judges in an effort to interest high-school students in legal careers. The mission of the program is to provide students an opportunity to interact with Judges and to learn what is necessary to have a career in the legal profession. Additionally, New Jersey’s program will provide students an opportunity to have judges and attorneys serve as their mentors. In order to apply to be one of our 2014 Color of Justice Program Scholars, applicants must meet the following criteria: • Currently enrolled in a New Jersey high school or College; • An official certificate of good standing must accompany the application; • Significant involvement in high school or college and community activities; • Submission of a 2014 Color of Justice Program Scholar’s Application; • Submission of an essay about themselves and their career goals; • Two (2) letters of support (One must be a current or a former teacher. The letter of support must state how the person knows the applicant.) No letter of support will be accepted from a relative of the student applicant. • Applications must be submitted to your school no later than January 15, 2015. Applications received after this date will not be considered. In addition to the above, all applications will be judged based upon their content, clarity and professionalism. Qualified high school students who are interested in applying should forward the above documents to your school in one package. All successful participants will be notified by mail on or before February 17, 2015 via email. Please be advised that each chosen participant is expected to attend and fully participate in the 2014 Color of Justice Program. GOOD LUCK!
