The New Yorker piece on Rand Paul is excellent this week. As weird as this might sound to my friends, I hope Paul wins the nomination in 2016. Im not convinced anything could induce me to vote for him, but I respect that hes consistent and systematic in most of his beliefs - he has a heuristic, even if that heuristic is insane and disastrous, and Id be much more comfortable with consistent and rational insanity from a Republican presidential candidate than a weird, irrational, unhinged opportunist.
