The News:: Sirajul Haq, JI deputy chief and the senior minister, said PTI had offered them the portfolios of finance, education and Zakat and Ushar during talks for forging coalition and JI had accepted it. “But Imran Khan later requested us to surrender the education ministry as he wanted it to be overseen by a minister belonging to his party,” he said, explaining how the controversy developed. “Respecting the stature of Imran Khan being a national leader, we decided to honour his request,” he added. “We had promised the education portfolio to JI when we were making agreement for the formation of the coalition government,” Shaukat Ali Yousafzai, the PTI provincial secretary general and government spokesman said. “Disagreement between JI and PTI later emerged and it was stoked up by the media. Now the issue has been resolved and JI has agreed to return education portfolio to the PTI,” he told a news conference at Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
