The Nicaraguan canal is not necessary, especially with free energy & MAGRAV (magnetic & gravitational field) technology emerging. All that funding should be put towards helping Humanity understand itself, evolve consciously, and encourage breakthroughs in technology to get itself off the surface of this planet before we are torched by the sun. Another project that only benefits the rich - we should start paying attention to scientists and energy engineers like Nassim Haramein, John Searl with Searl Magnetics, The Keshe Foundation, Nikola Tesla, and the movie Thrive. This is a classic example of Humanity focusing only on the 0.00009% of reality which we see and feel here on Earth - the shipping of mans material garbage is embarrassing, even more so done with 1800s combustion technology; a total waste of resources.
