The Nigerian army 2 days ago, repelled another attack on konduga by koko haram. As we speak, intelligence reports suggest that they are regrouping for another attack that may likely come before or during the muslim holidays. I have written several times that boko haram can not defeat the Nigerian army in an open confrontation. The only way they can pose a threat is for them to go to a town filled with civillians, kill as many as they can and run back to the hideouts. To capture maiduguri, they know they have to confront the NA. They have done that for several days now and have lost all the battles fought. They should go back to history and ask their fellow militants in somalia. In 1991, the US special forces launched an attack to capture a top Al-shabab militant in somalia. During the operation, the US soldiers ambushed, many US soldiers were killed and their bodies dragged along the streets of mogadishu. A distress call was placed to the nearest UN contingent on ground....Nigerian troops. The Nigerians arrived under the command of then LT.COL Olagunsoye Oyinlola, the former governor of osun state. The battle began and within hours, the AL-shabab militants were routed and several US troops saved.. The americans claimed that victory for themselves. The NA has its own issue. But if well motivated and equipped, they can stand their own. We have one of the best training mix and doctrines in the world and our officers attend the same military schools attended by american, british and even isreali officers. The battle is not over yet, with the recent approval of 1billion dollars, i expect many of the agreements signed with russia for the supply of assets to be executed. Orders have been placed for T-84 oplot tanks, one of the most modern battle tanks available. Some T-72 tanks, helicopter gunships and missile systems are being expected. The money wont be enough to totally equip our armed forces, but we can start from somewhere and sustain the momentum to fully equip our armed forces. Goodmorning!
