The Nigerian government needs to wake up to its principal responsibility in the development of the education sector,if the nation must witness any desirable upward developmental mobility.With the proper development of the education sector,we will no longer have to dependent upon other countries for our needs.Why do government officials and other rich Nigerians send their children to foreign universities in cluding Ghana and South Africa?Why do they travel abroad to treat mere headache?Why using foreigners to construct our roads and man our oil industry?Why do Nigerians patronize foreign media more than local ones?Why are government officials not ashamed that their children study abroad while children from those countries would rather commit suicide than spend one semester in an average Nigerian university?The answers lie in the inability to fund our university system and thus unable to train the required manpower.In light of this,government should honour its agreement with ASSU.The struggle to revive the university system ought to be governments responsibility.What ASSU is asking for is just the fulfillment of the 2009 Agreement reached between her and Government.
