The North Little Rock School District is excited to announce that on March 3, 2015 all NLRHS students currently classified as 11th graders will be given the opportunity to take the ACT exam at no cost to the student! This will be the first time this opportunity is offered to NLRHS students. It is possible that this ACT exam will replace the PARCC Algebra II exam currently slated to be administered in May 2015. The Arkansas Department of Education has submitted two amendments for the ESEA Flexibility Waiver one of which requests that the Algebra II and Grade 11 ELA/Literacy exams be optional assessments administered at the discretion of the school district. If the amendments are approved, the North Little Rock School District will opt out of both of these exams using the ACT as the replacement assessment. We feel the data from the ACT will provide a more accurate picture of where our students stand in terms of college readiness. It will also provide students with feedback on their areas of strength and areas of weakness allowing them to better refine their future exam preparation efforts.
