The North West Infidels are planning to hold a demonstration in Leigh on Saturday 3rd August 2013. Current intelligence suggests between 70 and 200 demonstrators could take part. Their proposal is to march to Leigh Town hall at 1.00pm, make several speeches and then disperse around 1.30pm. The policing operation is currently being produced, with support from the local authority and other partner agencies. The aim of the Policing Operation is to take all necessary steps to protect life and property, prevent crime and disorder and as far as possible public harm or interference in keeping with the principles of the European Convention on Human Rights. We will work with Wigan Local Authority and other partner agencies to support them in delivering an effective traffic management plan for the event . Plans are also in place for crowd management during the event, and street cleansing following the event. We will also establish an effective engagement plan to reassure the local community and businesses, minimise disruption and capture all available community intelligence.
