The Nun-Kun Glacier. Parkacheek, Suru Valley, Ladakh. This is one of those crude and raw sights of the gigantic glaciers of the Himalayas. You can actually halt your car and see, just across the Suru river, how solid ice flows down from the base of the Nun and Kun, the loftiest of the Zanskar peaks. Over the years, I have seen this giant of a glacier sinking down in the gully. It seems to me that it is melting at an alarming speed, but I am not sure of what experts observe. The car and the human figures give scale to the dimensions of this landscape. Have I posted this picture here earlier too ??
