The ODCs new ROM program is presently for club members only. Hoping UKC will approve our register of merit program so eventually all Dobermans that are shown in UKC will be eligible. The Total Doberman Register Of Merit Award The Ohio Doberman Club has developed a Total Doberman Register Of Merit award program for Dobermans that have achieved versatility of purpose, and have been screened for genetic health issues. Here are the guidelines the ODC will set forth: There will be three levels of achievement: BROM-Bronze Register Of Merit…or the PBROM-Platinum Bronze Register Of Merit SROM-Silver Register Of Merit…or the PSROM-Platinum Silver Register Of Merit GROM-Gold Register Of Merit…or the PGROM-Platinum Gold Register Of Merit ROM applications will only be accepted for Dobermans that are two years of age and older. The Bronze ROM will be for any UKC registered Doberman that has achieved the following requirements: 1. Has a UKC Championship (UCH or UALCH) 2. Has titles from two or more UKC performance events, must include a second level title from one performance event. 3. Has passed a Canine Good Citizen evaluation (CGC or CGCA), or TDI, or equivalent. 4. Has OFA X-Rayed Hips, is DNA vWD tested, Thyroid tested, has current CERF or OFA Eye Exam. Optional: Heart anomaly testing (DNA, Holter Monitor, Echo Cardiogram) This may be substituted for one of the above required health tests. 5. Has passed a Temperament evaluation given from national or breed specific organizations such as the ATTS or UDC TT or DPCA WAE, or Korung. Temperament evaluation scores must be graded ‘6’ or higher (ATTS), or ‘+2’ or higher (WAC), on the ‘Dog Is Threatened’ exercise to count toward the Bronze ROM. Copy of score sheet must be submitted to ODC. All Temperament evaluation scores and health test results will be held in strict confidentiality. The Silver ROM will be for any UKC registered Doberman that has achieved the following requirements: 1. Has a UKC Grand Championship (GRCH or ALGRCH) 2. Has titles from three or more UKC performance events. This must include at least one third level or highest level performance title. 3. Has passed a Canine Good Citizen evaluation (CGC or CGCA), or TDI, or equivalent. 4. Has OFA X-Rayed Hips, is DNA vWD tested, has current CERF or OFA Eye Exam, has been tested for thyroid function and heart anomalies within the past 6 months of applying for ROM (DNA, Echo, Halter Monitor). 5. Has passed 2 Temperament evaluations given from national or breed specific organizations such as the ATTS or UDC TT or DPCA WAE, or Korung. Temperament evaluation scores must be graded ‘6’ or higher (ATTS), or ‘+2’ or higher (WAC), on the ‘Dog Is Threatened’ exercise to count toward the Bronze ROM. Copy of score sheet must be submitted to ODC. 6. Has one or more basic protection/working dog/endurance/tracking titles. Example: BH, WH, SchH A, AD, OB, TR, FH, AKC TD, UDC T1, SDA basic titles All Temperament evaluation scores and health test results will be held in strict confidentiality The Gold ROM will be for any UKC registered Doberman that has achieved the following requirements: 1. Has a UKC Grand Championship (GRCH or ALGRCH) 2. Has titles from three or more UKC performance events. This must include one Champion level or highest level performance title. 3. Has passed a Canine Good Citizen evaluation (CGC or CGCA), or TDI, or equivalent. 4. Has OFA X-rayed Hips, is DNA vWD tested, Thyroid tested, has current CERF or OFA Eye Exam, and has been tested for heart anomalies within the past 6 months of applying for ROM (DNA, Echo, Holter Monitor). 5. Has passed 2 Temperament evaluations given from national or breed specific organizations such as the ATTS or UDC TT or DPCA WAE, or Korung. Temperament evaluation scores must be graded ‘6’ or higher (ATTS), or ‘+2’ or higher (WAC), on the ‘Dog Is Threatened’ exercise to count toward the Bronze ROM. Copy of score sheet must be submitted to ODC. 6. Has one or more protection dog sport titles from a national working dog organization such as PSA or UDC or other recognized American or International dog sport organization. Example: SchH 1 or higher, IPO 1 or higher, Mondio Ring, French Ring. All Temperament evaluation scores and health test results will be held in strict confidentiality The Platinum ROM will be for any UKC registered Doberman that has achieved the following requirements: A dog that meets all the requirements for any of the Bronze, Silver or Gold levels, plus has OFA Certified Good or Excellent Hips, is DNA vWD tested clear, Thyroid tested normal, has passed current CERF or OFA Eye examination, and has been tested clear/normal for heart anomalies within the past 6 months of applying for ROM (DNA, Echo, Holter Monitor). Owners can register to receive these awards by sending in an application with copies of all titles earned and medical reports/documents to the Ohio Doberman Club. A fee of $30.00 will apply. A Certificate will be issued by the ODC. Dogs that have been awarded the Bronze ROM, that complete qualifying titles/health tests to meet the requirements for subsequent ROM levels, will need to provide copies of those new titles and health reports to the ODC. An additional $15.00 fee is required to upgrade their ROM status, and they will receive a new ROM certificate. ROM awards do not need to be consecutive. If a Doberman qualifies for the Gold ROM, whose owner has not previously applied for any Total Doberman Register Of Merit Awards, the owner need only apply for their dog’s Gold certificate. As stated above, all Temperament evaluation score sheets and health test results will be held in strict confidentiality.
