The OECD, once the Head Cheerleader of trickle down economics, has called time on the core ideology of neo-liberalism. It has released a report that shows not only that inequality is slowing economic growth but that redistribution through taxes on the wealthy and income support will help the economy. The report shows NZ at the extreme of both rising income inequality and the negative impact on growth. We have long known about the unfairness of inequality, now the picture is complete. Its time for a new focus on reducing the gap between the rich and the rest to ensure we are all better off.
