The Oleander roots will be extending towards the training sector, driven by a survey we conducted over the past 5 years. Aimed at gauging the employment scenario in India, it was found that unemployment is actually on the rise. What is all the more astounding is that those seeking employment are well educated students who are unable to find jobs in MNCs or even local companies. This issue of unemployment can be attributed to the fact that, while universities provide students with academic knowledge, they do not allow students to attain a more practical understanding of how companies and departments function. Hence, MNCs who may be interested in hiring freshers need to first make the new recruits undergo thorough training to bring them up to date with the corporate environment. It is only after undergoing training that students develop the competency to be effective employees. However, this also implies that corporations would need to invest a substantial amount of funds as well as precious time on training before a candidate becomes productive. Unwilling to make such an investment, companies often seek to hire candidates who have already undergone such training elsewhere and can start working as soon as they are hired. Oleander seeks to address this gap between fresher capabilities and corporate requirements through its self employment program including the Software Technology Training Program or STTP.
