The Original Caroline was by all accounts the freshest breath of fresh air the minds of the people of this great nation had ever felt the likes of. It made way for so much in the name of the people of our country. Radio Caroline and the other Offshore stations which followed forced political change by opening doors for the young, giving them a whole new vista of exploration and fun. Variety which exploded like an electric fountain allowing so much new talent and means of expression. Inspiring and evocative, Caroline without ever becoming political quite literally threw out the old stuffy mindsets, made them walk the plank and turned Britain and half the continent on to the new. Allowing much needed exposure for bands like The Who, The Small Faces, Pink Floyd, The Kinks, The Moody Blues, The Move, Cat Stevens. Literally thousands who would have otherwise ended their careers in the local youth clubs. The music Ronan was in tune with and wished to promote came from up North. This is how it started, and of course as we all know; Radio Caroline North was the largest, most successful offshore commercial radio station of all time ;)
