The Originals: 5 BAMF Reasons Elijah Is the Best - TopicsExpress

The Originals: 5 BAMF Reasons Elijah Is the Best Mikaelson Anyone who caught the most recent episode of The Originals (Season 1, Episode 6: “Fruit of the Poisoned Tree”) doesn’t need to be told about the awesomeness of Elijah Mikaelson (Daniel Gillies). It was on full display. After a relatively slow start to the season (mostly due to being daggered in casket for roughly half that time), the politely fearsome Original vamp we know from Vampire Diaries seasons past took some serious action against the witches of the French Quarter. Today, we take some time to reflect on what makes Elijah the best Original BAMF. He saves his badassery for special occasions Unlike Klaus, or even Rebekah, who use their super strength, speed, and compulsion like their superpowers are going out of style, Elijah is a vampire of precision. He doesn’t bust out the scarily supernatural side of his person until it’s absolutely necessary. Then, just when we have forgotten the power the Original holds, he rips out a few well-chosen hearts. That’s just how E rolls. He hearts suits Of course, we couldn’t get through a list of Elijah’s qualities without mentioning his impeccable taste in men’s fashion. This vamp is never fully dressed without, well, a dapper, three-piece suit. Elijah hasn’t loosened his tie much since he got to The Originals, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Whenever we’re feeling low, we watch this Youtube tribute to Elijah’s suits and always feel a little bit better. Elijah in The Originals Season 1, Episode 6: “Fruit of the Poisoned Tree” Though Elijah may not be “loosening his tie” in New Orleans, that doesn’t mean he won’t shed his jacket when the situation calls for it. And the situation totally called for it in last night’s episode when the life of the Mikaelson miracle baby (or demon child, depending on who you ask) was at stake. Elijah didn’t miss a beat when Sophie said wading into the pool would help Hayley’s baby. He was totally up for a swim! And by “swim,” we mean holding Hayley in his arms to slow down her heartbeat. We don’t associate clinging to a wet, adorably-protective Elijah with a slower heartbeat, but whatever. (Coincidentally, this is only our second favorite “Daniel Gillies holds another cast member” moment, following this pic of Daniel with Charles Michael Davis in his arms.) He buys the milk One of our favorite parts about last night’s episode was the opening scene, which saw the Mikaelsons and Hayley all domestic in their mansion plantation. And, wouldn’t you know it? Elijah is the one who remembers to buy milk! This has always been our favorite trait in a roommate and/or Original vampire. He has given up on giving up Elijah’s faith in his siblings is basically his superpower. While some may find the way he continues to give Klaus more chances a weakness, we think it is Elijah’s biggest strength — and the reason we love him oh-so-much. In Episode 5 of The Originals, Elijah tells Davina that he has given up on giving up. We think that’s pretty great.
