The PBCN has seen several women who underwent totally unnecessary removal of their breasts and worse, useless toxic chemo for DCIS (Ductal Carcinoma In Situ) - the most common diagnosis. Prevention is what a patient would be told. Really? DCIS in the very first place poses no threat at all and is better off untouched. DCIS patients are made to believe they are survivors and that they are cured where in fact, they were never ill with breast cancer nor would their DCIS proceed to malignancy. Surgeons and oncologists just want your business, especially if you can afford or have medical insurance and most of all, are ignorant and totally uninformed.
