The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs NAIROBI Att: Head/PubLic Affairs & Communications RE: URGENT WARNING ON MOTOR VEHICLE IN JAPAN This Mission recently noted increasing requests from Kenyans seeking guidance as to Whether Prime Motors Japan is a genuine online Used Motor vehicle Exporter. Earlier on" a Kenya lady by the name Rose Osore had also written seeking our opinion about this company which sought to employ her as a local agent in Kenya and we had discouraged her from working for strangers operating online vehicle exports due to dangers involved. As a result of these requests" the Mission carried out a quick investigation through online searches and via contacts only to find that the firm cannot be trusted because it is unregistered locally and its online information is far from the facts on the ground. Before long we had three Kenyans have reported having fallen victim to online fraud by this company and we took immediate measures to issue an online Warning as follows: We have done our back ground checks and found that PRIME MOTORS JAPAN using a website addresses: (www~primemotorsjapan/) is a risky company despite their vigorously advertising in Kenya and other places. The company"s activities have been reported to the Embassy by various Kenyans which raise doubts about their operations due to the following: 1. Prime Motors Japan Co is not a member of JUMVEAor any other Used Car Association 2. Their website has no company profile and no credible details about ownership and companyVERY URGENT registration in Japan 3. Prime Motors Japan has no credible official address and the address given on their website could simply be an imaginary office.4. Although Prime Motors Japan is advertised on olx.co.ke website, this ism6:gua~antee about its authenticity. 5. We have so far 4 Kenyans i! alr-eady reporting fraudulent deals involving USD 6,900.00, USD 13,300.00 and USD 5,850.00. These Kenyans are extremely distressed because the "owners" of the company no longer cooperate truthfully with the clients after receiving the cash. This Embassy therefore wishes to urgently warn all Kenyans against continued cooperation with this company as this will be at their own RISK. In this regard, the Embassy shall greatly appreciate if the Division on Press and Public Affairs in the Ministry could take all precautionary measures possible including publishing this information via the Print prevented from and electronic media so that more Kenyans can be falling victims to their fraudulent schemes. As we had earlier warned Kenyans but were unfortunately ignored, online car dealers may appear to be a perfectly legitimate on the website but if you cannot verify the information they give, it is safer to please treat them as potential Fraudsters. In case of doubts, Members of the public are invited to contact this mission at any time (whether night or day)". Once again kindly also request our national treasury and the CBK to liaise with commercial Banks to advise potential victims of this warning before clients transact Bank transfers to Japanese online car dealers.
