The Philippines braces for tighter competition when the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) single market, starts in 2015. The Philippines was part of negotiations for a Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, which groups ASEAN and six trading partners – Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, and South Korea, — in promoting the region as integration center in Asia-Pacific. It signed the ASEAN Agreement on Movement of Natural Persons (MNP) in the 21st ASEAN Summit on November 18-20, 2012, in Cambodia, endorsing the Schedules of Commitments of ASEAN member-states to an agreement to facilitate the movement of investors, business people, and skilled labor among member-states. The Philippines is also part of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, which has scheduled tariff cuts on environmental goods starting 2015. mb.ph/information-readying-for-2015-asean-integration/
