The Pit at Tecumseh Park has re-opened after a further search and raking, just in time for the weekend. Here is a statement from the city: Beach Open at Tecumseh Park On Monday evening, July 21, a dart was discovered in the water, near the Tecumseh Park beach shoreline. In an effort to keep the public safe the beach was closed. City staff has raked the entire beach area and inspected the beach, shoreline and swim area visually and with a metal detector; no additional darts have been discovered. In addition, the Lenawee County Sheriff Department Dive Team conducted a grid search of the shoreline and swim area using a metal detector. The only thing that was discovered; a pair of sunglasses! (On a side note, the Dive Team also commented that the water at Tecumseh Park is some of the cleanest and clearest they have seen in quite some time.) As a result, the beach at Tecumseh Park is now open. The City of Tecumseh recommends footwear for everyone that uses our park system, both in and out of the water.
