The Possibility Of A Benevolent And Liberating SINGULARITY There is a difference between being cautiously optimist about the possibility of achieving a benign and liberating singularity in the future ( and striving for it to happen ) -and- the religious fanaticism ( usually adopted by armchair revolutionaries ) that declares that it will happen with absolute certainty and, promptly and angrily, dismisses any alternative possibilities. The first attitude is a scientific one, the second is a religious one. Amazingly, some people of the second type claim to follow the scientific method. You do not win opposition to a great project with just anger and faith. You win with critical and rational thinking, creative strategies and great determination.
