The Poughkeepsie Journal answered the call when the New York Blood - TopicsExpress

The Poughkeepsie Journal answered the call when the New York Blood Center wanted us to organize a blood drive. More than two dozen people gave blood today in the bloodmobile outside the Journal building. Thanks to building owners Page Park Associates and to the other businesses in the Journal building, as well as the Dutchess County Department of Health, for participating. Here, Yvette McNerney, PC/Telecommunication specialist at the Journal, and Rose Simpson, administrative assistant to the publisher, give blood. Blood shortages typically occur in the summer months when schools and colleges are not in full operation. High school and college blood drives typically account for about 15 percent to 20 percent of overall blood donations. To find out more about the New York Blood Center, go to nybloodcenter.org. The American Red Cross also conducts blood drives and more information can be found at redcrossblood.org
