***The Power Of Hiring a Mentor/Coach*** TRUE STORY From 1991-1998 I had already won several teenage bodybuilding awards as well as placed first in bantamweight class in Mr. Pittsburgh competition and Mr. Orange County Competition (143lb). I could have said to myself I know my body, I dont need anyone to help me at that point. Then one day I was approached by pro bodybuilder Patrick Lynn. He said Sam let me help you. You have potential but you need to learn how to diet properly. I could have been arrogant and said I dont need help or I already placed first place what can you do for me or even why should I pay for something I already know but I was open to learning. I asked Patrick how much you charge He then told me the amount that was equal to the amount of my old 1991 Honda Civic (I was a starving college student, living in a 400 square foot studio apartment) But I swallowed my pride and begged, borrowed the money. Patrick had me do some unusual workouts and some very unusual out of the comfort zone dieting to say the least. But I paid the man for his knowledge and I was determined to do what the man said NO MATTER HOW UNCOMFORTABLE. My wife Johnette Bakhtiar can even vouch that the night before my big show I panicked called Patrick on the phone and even called him a few choice words because I thought he gave me the wrong advice. He calmly said I see you in the morning STUD and hung up. The morning before the big show, I woke up to go to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, I was like D*** who is that. I looked incredible. I was dialed in beyond belief. I woke up Johnette and we both were freaking out on how dialed in I was. When Patrick arrived I just gave him a big hug. I entered the contest and everyone couldnt believe my conditioning. That night I took home 5 trophies and later on went on to become the first bodybuilder in history with a first place titles in every weight class. Bantamweight (143lb) all the way up to Heavyweight (200lb). Also won Mr. Los Angeles and placed 2nd in Mr. USA. All because I was eager to learn and I didnt mind paying the price for it. If you want to get to where you want to be no matter where it is, there are people who have been there done that. No need to reinvent the wheel. All you have to do is reach out and ask for help. THE BEST INVESTMENT IS YOU.
