The Power of The Purse One of the key powers we have in Congress is the power of the purse. Today we exercised it. The IRS has been acting with contempt and disrespect towards Americans for too long. My amendment cutting $343 million from its budget and pushing it to 2007 levels passed the House tonight. I could not be more pleased. I hope they get the message. They work for the people.
