The Primary 1 kids (7-year-olds) had a morning filled with visiting various sites in the larger school campus. The schools rich history was what they were exploring, with their older buddies from Primary 4 (10-year-olds) who guided them. They heard stories, visited sites, were given tokens... and ended with a graphic record on 3 themes - Special Places, Special People, and Special Stories. It was a blast (and that goes for the healthy noise they made!) as they jostled for space on the wall. There was opportunity for me to teach collaboration, and taking turns, and saying sorry, and forgiveness at the wall, when one small group had a boy writing ugly over his classmates work. There was restitution when I taught them to use colour to make that ugliness into a rainbow. :D But Oh! What a wonderful way to see the boys (yes, I forgot to mention the added challenge that it was an all-boys school, didnt I? ;) ) recount what made the school special to them! And it is indeed a special and wonderful school, and Im truly blessed to be a part of it for more than two decades! :)
