The Prologue for Upping The Ante. (UNEDITED) Copyright © Sarah Elizabeth 2014 For over 18s only. Prologue “Thanks,” I said as I handed over a couple of twenty dollar bills to the cab driver through the passenger side window. He nodded and accepted them from me before I stepped back onto the sidewalk, grabbing hold of my case as I began to make my way toward the house. I’d arrived back from my father’s villa two days earlier than I’d originally planned. During the summer break, I’d been staying with him in Sarasota, Florida, and wasn’t supposed to be heading back home to Rhode Island until Saturday. Well, things changed. My father had to leave for a business trip in San Francisco first thing that morning, which left me with two options. Stay there on my own until my scheduled flight on Saturday afternoon, or catch an earlier one. I opted for the latter. The truth was, I missed my boyfriend. Forty-two days away from him was the longest we’d been apart. We’d spoken to each other every day over the phone and through emails, but it wasn’t the same. Ethan’s mom and dad were not due back home from their vacation until the next day, and that was one of the reasons why I chose to go there so late. I wanted to deliver his gift as soon as the clock struck midnight. Over breakfast that morning, he told me that he didn’t have any plans for that night, so I knew for sure that he was going to be home. When we talked about him coming to pick me up from the airport that weekend, I went along with it because I didn’t want to tell him what I had planned for his twenty-first birthday. It was getting close to midnight as I climbed the steps up to the front porch of his family home. The whole house was in complete darkness and I grabbed my cell from out of my jacket pocket, punching in the pin code so that I had a little light to help me. I knew they kept the spare key some place, and after a couple of moments, I managed to find it. I reached down and lifted the key from underneath the small pot on the decking area, and then made my way back over to the front door, turning the key in the lock as I tried not to make a sound. I didn’t want him to bust me before I had a chance to deliver my surprise. Propping my case against the wall, I headed over to the staircase, running my hands up the sidewall so I wouldn’t lose my footing on my way up to the first floor. His room was the third along on the right, and once I made it to his door, I turned the handle and stepped quietly inside. If it wasn’t for the sound of heavy breathing travelling over from the other side of the room, then I would have thought that I was the only one in here. I tried to control the smile that was threatening to spread wide over my face, and tip toed slowly toward the bed. Unfastening my belt, I slipped out of my jacket and allowed it to fall down to the floor before unfastening my jeans and pulling them off. Once I’d removed my shirt and bra, I made my way closer to him. When I felt the side of his bed against my legs, I lifted the blanket and slid in beside him. The bed shifted only slightly and I moved over, closer to him, pressing my almost naked body against his. He had his back to me, and I wrapped my right arm around his waist. While nibbling at his earlobe, my hand travelled lower, until I felt the one thing I’d been searching for. Gently rubbing my hand over his crotch, a low grunting noise escaped from his chest as his body shifted, until he was lying fully on his back. I gripped hold of his now hard length through the fabric of his shorts and began softly kissing his abs, moving my lips over toward his naval and placing soft kisses in a lingering trail southwards. “Surprise, baby.” I whispered through my smile. The bed shifted again and I heard him clear his throat as my breasts skimmed lightly over his thighs. Licking my lips, I tugged on the material and his erection instantly sprang free from his shorts. I allowed my tongue to slowly roam over his crown and heard his sharp intake of breath as I wrapped my lips around him, teasingly. He ran his fingers through my hair and I could hear his ragged breaths as I pulled my mouth away from him, moving my body upward until mine was hovering above his. With the small amount of light that was peeking through the small gap in the drapes, I could only just make out the outline of his body as I continued to kiss higher. With my legs positioned on either side of his body, I leaned closer and felt his warm breaths sweeping into my hair as I went to whisper by his ear. “I missed you.” The bed moved again, only this time, the room filled with bright light that was now shining directly into my eyes from the lamp on the nightstand beside the bed. It took a couple of seconds for my eyes to adjust, and when my gaze settled on him, my whole body froze. A pair of gray eyes were staring right into mine, but Ethan’s were brown. “You’re not my boyfriend!” Was all I could manage to whisper, my hands were rested on the pillow on either side of his head, my breasts brushing against his chest. His eyes were dancing with his apparent amusement as he kept his gaze fully fixed on mine. “No. No, I’m not,” he answered. My mouth fell open and I continued to stare at the stranger who was beneath me. “Yet, you’re still pressing your almost naked body against mine.” He added, cocking his head to the side as a grin spread widely over his lips, his black hair disheveled. “I’m sorry … I’m … Shit!” “I wouldn’t say you were shit,” he said as his eyes roamed lower, until his gaze was resting on my breasts. “In fact, now that you’re here, you wanna test your theory?” His smile was replaced by a smirk and it was only then that I managed to think straight. I clambered off him and pulled the red blanket over to cover me while reaching for my clothes. “I thought you were … but, you’re not …” I stammered, pulling on my clothes as fast as I could because I needed to get out of there, and fast. “What? You’re just gonna walk out here before getting to the good stuff?” His eyes were shining bright and he swung his bronzed legs over the edge of the bed. He casually walked closer to me, not once concerned that his shorts were still hanging down around his thighs, his penis touching his naval, and I tried to keep my eyes focused on his face. I shook my head and headed quickly over to the door, stumbling as I grabbed hold of the handle, pulling the door open. “One question.” I paused when he spoke again and glanced over my shoulder. His gaze roved over me from head to toe and his lips tugged up at the sides as he arched his brow. “Do you always keep your heels on?” https://goodreads/book/show/23429785-upping-the-ante
