The Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam once joked with a companion and he slightly hit him with a small stick. The man demanded justice and to get even as he claimed that the Prophet hurt him. The Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam being the most just man ever to walk the earth told the man to get even by hitting him back. The companion complained that it wasn’t fair as the Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam had his shirt on while the man wasn’t wearing any. So, the Prophet lifted his shirt up and ordered the man to get even. Seeing his skin, the companion embraced the body of the Prophet, kissing his side near the ribs area saying: this is what I only wanted O Prophet of Allah! Every time I read this hadeeth, I always fail to hold my tears back. O Allah, we love him more than our wives, children and our own souls. O Allah, grant us his companionship in Paradise.
