The Public’s Choice: TappooCity FoodCourt Setting the standards for Fiji IF you have a deep sense of appreciation for food and consider the experience of eating out a luxury not to be wasted, then make TappooCity Foodcourt your destination. Since it opened at Level Four of the capital’s TappooCity Complex, the TappooCity Foodcourt has evolved into a bustling culinary foodhall of international flavours. People traffic is thick. It’s a testament that the food court has earned the people’s trust. The two-storey space of about 23,000 square feet has a comforting ambience achieved by its high ceilings, prominent glass enclosure, natural lighting and panoramic view of the Suva Harbour. Its modern, minimalist-inspired layout advances its elegance. Food-wise, the inviting selection is wide and varied: the spicy delights of South India at Madras Masala, the authentic Indian vegetarian of Bollywood Cafe, delectable Chinese cuisine from several eateries, and the western grill food from Papa Jo’s. Then there’s the lure of the country’s only square, thin-crusted pizzas at the New York Pizza Kitchen. The Big Apple-inspired pizzas are generously laden and have already garnered a dedicated following. For the Generation Zs, there are many choices offered for their tastes. The traditional fried delights are available, and there’s even a healthy selection of the world-famous Subway-type sandwiches from Submarine. There’s a 100% fruit juice bar that’s aptly titled, Juice Up, and, there’s also desert options that include cakes from Rosey Hearts, and, ice-cream and milkshake from the Tip-Top Ice-Cream Bar. The fact that a gaming station is a stone’s throw away on the same floor is an added appeal for this tech-savy generation. The bookstore nearby is perhaps a better alternative for some, and, the unique offerings of a bouncy castle and free rides on Big Bird and Batman’s Batmobile are standouts for toddlers. Such amusements mean families can choose to talk at leisure with friends and family without the pesterings of a bored youngster. On the mezzanine level that overlooks the foodcourt is a beauty and nail saloon (ProfessioNAIL), offices for medical practitioners: a physiotherapist and a general practitioner, and, a function room for those looking to hire a central venue for their meeting or party. A well-stocked pharmacy and a health shop that specialises in nutritional goodies and health supplements are strategically located nearby. There’s also a mini-supermarket that aptly stresses its worth in its title, Convenience Store. A Taki outlet, Tappoo’s reputable bottleshop that retails an range inclusive of popular imported wines and liqueur. For shoppers who choose to opt for a few drinks, the Cozmo Lounge on the mezzanine level of TappoCity’s Foodcourt is open. All in all, the overwhelming choices available indicate that the family unit was undoubtedly a central consideration when the TappooCity Foodcourt was designed. The intuitiveness of designers behind Suva’s iconic TappooCity complex is conspicuously evident. With such thoughtfulness incorporated into the design and the selection of tenants, TappooCity Foodcourt has redefined the traditional food court concept in Fiji. Source: Mai Life, Aug. 2013
