The Quick and the Dead (1987) Sam Elliott, Tom Conti, Kate Capshaw Time for a Western and this a good one. A TV movie but an A class production. Based on a novel by Louis LAmour. A homesteader, his wife and son are looking for a place to settle down and think they have found the ideal spot but a bunch of the meanest, ugliest bunch of thugs you ever saw have different ideas. A mysterious stranger (Sam Eliot) appears and always seems to be on hand when help is needed. Definite echoes of _Shane_ here but this movie is better - more down to earth and the kid is less bratty than the one in Shane. Not a frame is wasted in the unravelling of the plot and the development of the characters - Tom Conti proves not as wimpy as he appears at first as the story progresses. All the characters look thoroughly at home on horseback and theres great Arizona locations and splended camera work. Its a winner. https ://youtube/watch?v=GDpElxGVngI
