The Ralph Diaries~ MARCH 21 1967- San Antonio- Tuesday- Rode bus to school. Mom took me to Atlantic Mills. I bought some striped hip-huggers and a football jersey (No. 32). The pants were too small. We ate at Griffs Hamburgers. (note: Great, that was O.J. Simpsons number. And striped hip-huggers? Guess I was kind of a gay murderer.) 1968- San Antonio- Thursday- Woke up late, 7:35. Left for school at 7:45. Found a baseball by the school. After school, Jimmy and I played chess. We walked to the Stop-N-Go and bought a MAD magazine. 1973- Lubbock- Wednesday- Went to classes at Tech. Went to the rodeo tonight. 1979- Lubbock- Wednesday- Stayed up all last night doing record work. Today, I bought a house at 6104 Ave. R. Gave the owner $500 earnest money check. 1980- Lubbock- Friday- Delivered papers, morning and evening. Went to concert at The Coliseum, The Outlaws and Molly Hatchet. 1984- Lubbock- Wednesday- Worked at 34th st. store all day. Marcel Marceau is performing tonight at Tech. I went to Abbey Road to see Slade. We were supposed to have an in-store appearance with Slade today, but it didnt happen. They were great, very loud. They kept tripping the breakers at the club and would have to start songs over. Got their autographs. 1985- Lubbock- Thursday- Worked at University store. Talked to Kathy on the phone. 1986- Lubbock- Friday- Worked at Univ. store. Went to Abbey Road tonight to see Boycott, a great local band. 1987- Lubbock- Saturday- Worked at Univ. store. Partied at The Tunnel tonight with Tony Scarcello. 1989- Lubbock- Tuesday- Polly left, at noon, for Dallas, for a work seminar. Shell be back Friday. I worked at the Univ. store. 1993- Austin- Sunday- Larry B. and I stopped at a convenience store for breakfast stuff on our way to The Austin Record Show. Slow business today, but I did a lot of shopping. Got back in Lubbock about 1:30 AM. 1994- Lubbock- Monday- Got in late last night, from Austin. Took my car to Frank Brown Pontiac to be worked on. Worked at Univ. store. 1997- Ransom Canyon- Friday- Worked all day at 82nd st. store. Doug out of town this weekend. 2001- Lubbock- Wednesday- Worked at 82nd st. store. Great Divide at Midnight Rodeo Tonight. 2006- Lubbock- Tuesday- Worked at 82nd st. store.Took Joey to practice at 5:45. Went by rent house. 2007- Lubbock- Wednesday- Opened up store, with Nick, at 10 AM, Mike V.came by for a few minutes. Got stressed out today, as we were short-handed. I need to do some hiring, pronto. Nick and I completely re-organized the shelves behind the counter, first time in many years. Picked up Joey from baseball practice, which was called off early, because of lightning. Finished up my 2006 income taxes tonight. Now, to take them to my illustrious accountant, Bombastic Bushkin. 2009- Lubbock- Saturday- Saw, in the paper, that my old Ransom Canyon next-door neighbor, Stan Grassel, died the other day, struck by lightning. Drove out to the warehouse, watered my trees, and picked up my trailer and some boxes, to move all my stuff out of the rear rent house. The new renter wants it unfurnished. Glad I didnt move all of my furnture out, because he never showed. Wont return my phone calls, doesnt answer his phone, doesnt answer pages. When I got to the store later, I ran his Drivers License number through our Check Verifier. It came up Blue Card, which means he has bad checks out. Dont think I will be renting to this guy. Went to Joeys baseball game, where they beat San Angelo Central, at Moegle Field. Went to work about 4:00 and the place was nuts. We sold a ton of Mudvayne tickets, had great business also. 2010- Lubbock- Sunday- Had to run up to the store and fix their phone/internet problem. Worked on my income taxes, hoping to find a miracle. Didnt really find one. Steve and Hallie came by for a little while. Polly made a new chicken curry dish, I thought it was good. Filled out new census form. 2011- Lubbock- Monday- Took Alison to Blue Sky for lunch, just us two, had a good time. She got her hair high-lighted, looks good. Worked at store all afternoon. Came home for dinner. Polly went to work out. Shes feeling much better since her bout with walking pneumonia. 2012- Lubbock- Wednesday- My appliance repairman came by this morning, worked on our fridge ice-maker. Got lunch from Arbys, ate with Corey. Worked all day with Doug, Corey, Tyler. 2013- Ransom Canyon- Thursday- Talked to nephew, Sam, on FB this morning. Had lunch with Bob Shattuck, at Cheddars, very good food. Got a call from Roy Larson, informed me that our friend, John Farris, died this morning. Very sad. I sat next to John at Donna Palmers birthday party last month, talked to him for a long while. Called Larry Martin, talked about this. Larry and Karen always stayed with John and Becky when they came to town. Went to work. Polly came by for a while, on her way to the dentist. She had to get fitted for a splint, having problems with her jaw. Talked to Beck Taylor about running our upcoming estate sale. 2014- Ransom Canyon- Friday- Ate fish at Furrs Cafeteria, for lunch. Mike went to visit Mel, at Emerald bay, for the weekend. Looks like Tim and Lisa may be coming to visit, in June, for Tims 40th high school reunion! Also, looks like me, Fischer, Kelley and Lauder may be going to Cleveland, in June, to see the Monkees and visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!
