The Rat-Eating Pitcher Plant (Nepenthes attenboroughii) is one of the largest carnivorous plant in the world. Though it has not been seen to eat rats, one specimen was observed to digest a shrew. The largest recorded pitcher of N. attenboroughii measured more than 1.5 litres in volume. The plant was discovered on Mount Victoria in the Philippines in June 2007 and was named after Sir David Attenborough.
