The Real Message of Labor Day/Its Theme: Life Can Be Shitty But We Can Save Each Other From It With Kindness and Gentleness and Love. Kate Winslet - One of Our Best Actresses - A Truly Beautiful Person Saw the movie Labor Day again last night. Its one of the movies Ill watch again and again. The reviews for the movie were terrible. I totally disagree with them. I think this trailer is indicative of why the movie was a flop - it was totally misinterpreted. This is not a thriller - as it was promoted - like Hitchcocks film - what was the name? Rear Window. This was a movie about real love - something that Hollywood knows little about. First of all, I love Kate Winslet. Watching her work is like watching the work of Meryl Streep - like watching a sunset. They are consummate artists. But more than just artist I love the people they are. Im sure they are intuitives, maybe even introverted intuitives. I put Juliette Binoche in this category, too. Labor Day is a love story and it should have been promoted as such. Its a real love story, not a Hollywood love story. A book that gives the definition of real love is Erich Fromms The Art of Loving. Real love is about caring and respect, and responsibility and knowledge. Kate Winslet, for me, in this movie played a haunting character. She was a very sensitive person who wanted no more from life than archetypal things - to love a mate, to have children. But as amoral life will be - Adeles life was shitty. Her husband left her because he couldnt cope with her sadness after multiple miscarriages and the thing that did her in - holding her beautiful dead newborn baby girl in her arms. That seemed to be the final blow that made this very sensitive person unable to go on, to cope with an often too shitty life. What I loved about Adele, the movie, was the underlying sensuousness, the aliveness - the knowing what that is - good food, freely moving your body in rhythm, immersing yourself in what you do and giving yourself over to it completely, knowing how to love, what real love is. Kate Winslet should have won an Oscar for this role. She played it so perfectly, because this is the kind of person she is, the kind of person Meryl Streep is, the kind of person Juliette Binoche is - how I love my fellow introverted intuitives/or, at least, intuitives, their artistry, their creativity, their ability to totally immerse themselves in what they do - to work intuitively with Spirit (Holy Ghost for you Christians/in total communication between the conscious and unconscious). What I hate: I hate movies about dysfunctional people. When I watch a movie to me its like deciding who you want to spend two hours with. I do not want to spend two hours with dysfunctional, unconscious people who wreck havoc on other peoples life. I want to spend two hours with people who are gentle, kind, loving - who understand what life is really about. So Labor Day will be one of those movies Ill watch again and again because I love the people in it. Great movie Kate Winslet! I dont go to movie theaters to watch movies, but I do keep watch on Amazon for new movies that you make. Watching artists like you, Meryl Streep, Juliette Binoche act is like watching a sunset. youtu.be/pn9UQw07hbo
