The Results Are In!!! today I checked my mileage for the last time in Dan Coffins weekly MPG challenge! this mornings fill-up resulted in a 38.58 MPG average for last week, and it sadly marks the end of this experiment. which brings us to the fun part! the final numbers... for the record, i drive an 04 civic coupe, automatic, with 116,000 miles on it. i filled up in the morning every time between 4:10am and 4:15am using 92 octane, at the Chevron station in Sultan, Washington. I used the same pump for EVERY fill-up. I let the nozzle click itself off on its own every time to avoid any human inconsistencies. and now, the moment of truth... Phase 1 - using pennzoil conventional 5-30; resulted in a 38.38 MPG average over a 12 fill-up period. best MPG was 40.11, worst was 36.73 Phase 2 - using mobil-1 full-synthetic 5-20; resulted in a 38.58 MPG average over an 11 fill-up period. best MPG was 40.44, worst was 37.16 draw your own conclusions...
