“The Return-To-Work formula signed on 18th of July by TSC and KNUT, under the chairmanship of the Cabinet Secretary for Labour Kambi Kazungu, required that there should be no victimization of any teacher or member on account of the concluded strike. To us, there is no greater victimization than with-holding of a worker’s salary on account of days of participation in a strike. The Commission’s (TSC) action of chopping the teachers’ salaries amounts to an invitation to teachers and the union to also break their part of the agreement and return to the strike,” KNUT Secretary General Mudzo Nzili. Now the government has thrown in the towel and agrees to pay the teachers in full on agreement that they will recover the 16 days lost during the strike. Now where are Jacob Kaimenyi and Kazungu Kambi who were bragging all over the place that teachers won’t be paid for the days they didn’t teach? Bravo teachers.
