The Reunion 2014 -- FSOBackspin.04: Back in 1993, The Abyss was the first nightclub in Orlando playing electronic music that I ever stepped into (Glyn! The Abyss!!). The party was called Thanksgroovin. The DJ on decks was the one and only Derek D-Xtreme Steplight (Stylus and Hood were also on the 1s and 2s that night). Already having sensory overload from the music pumping out of the speakers like a sirens enchanting call from the blue-green waters of paradise, I was introduced to a new (new to me, anyway) kind of nightlife culture in the process. One where all types of random people with widely different backgrounds came together and celebrated life and music like family under a windfall of sonic bliss. People danced…Even people that couldnt dance moved about the floor with no apparent look of fear or doubt in their minds. It was a contagious scene, and I was hooked immediately and forever thereafter. I share this, because that was the very moment that I went back to in my dome while witnessing D-Xtreme more than two decades later take everyone higher all over again at The Reunion at Firestone.
