The Rev. Mary Stumme Froiland was elected September 28th to a six-year term as bishop of the South-Central Synod of Wisconsin of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The bishop-elect is pastor of Luther Valley Lutheran Church, Beloit, Wisconsin, where she has served since 2000. The Rev. Froiland earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Philosophy from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN in 1979, and a Master of Divinity degree from Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1985. She is married to the Rev. John Froiland, Chaplain at St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital. They have 3 grown children, one son-in-law, and a grandson.
