The Rome Lady Rebels hosted the 12th Annual Shamrock Shootout over the weekend. 29 teams competed in grades 6th through 11th. Games were held at RFA, Stadium Support and Strough Middle School. The following won their divisions: 6th grade- Utica Lady Knicks (Murphy) 7-8th grade- Tri-Valley Thunder (Cole) 8-9th grade - Foothill Hoop Club( Philo) 9-10th grade - Utica Lady Knicks (Holmes) 11th grade- Rome Lady Rebels (Anken) 11th grade- Oneida (Newton) The Rome Lady Rebels hosted the 12th Annual Shamrock Shootout this past weekend. The Rome Lady Rebels 6th grade team lost its first two games on Saturday to the Utica Lady Knicks (33-6) and Tri-Valley Thunder (31-15), but came back strong on Sunday with two wins over the Tri-Valley Thunder (27-25) and Binghamton’s STNY Flyers (52-45). The Rebels 6th grade team finished with a 2-2 record and 3rd place finish. Weekend scoring leaders were Halie Ehlinger with 31 points, Isabelle Matt and Tyra McCovery with 13 points each, Ella Rainbow with 11 points and Myrandah Montgomery with 10 points. The 6th grade Rebels will be playing next in Albany at the Summer Jam Hoops Festival on June 21 and 22. The Rebels 7th/8th grade team went 3-1 this weekend. They beat the Lady Knuckleheads 47-25, Utica Lady Knicks 39-17 and The Blue Devils of Seneca Falls 33-5. There only loss was to Tri-Valley Thunder 49-24. There high scorers for the weekend were Skylar Kaelin 30 points, Anna Loso 23 points, Anna Hood 18 points and Bryn Mancarella 12 points. The 9th grade Lady Rebels went 2-2 over the weekend. They lost to Foothill Hoop Club 20-31. They Beat Rochester Royals 50-33 and beat The Lady Sizzlers 43-26. They lost to the Foothill Hoop Club again in the Championship game 13-35. High scorers for the weekend were Erin Reilly and Amanda Wilbert who scored 32 points each. Rome lady rebels 10 grade team went 2-2 . There two hard faught losses came against the Lady Rebels (Smith) 38-40 and the Utica Knicks 32-40. There wins came against a good Delhi buldog team 44-36 and 43-32. Leading the way were Shannon Harrison with 63 points, Sam Cataldo with 18 along with Rylee Butters and Meghan Evans each adding 16. The Rome Rebels (Caps) team competed in the 10th grade division compiled a record of 2-2 . The Rebels defeated Rebels (M Luce) squad 40-38 and Delhi 34-32. The Rebels lost to bracket champ Utica Lady Knicks 60-40 and 47-36. Leading scorers for the weekend were: Jordan Marsh 28 points, Hayley Kelley 27 points, and Lauren Denny and Allison Malbouf with 18 points each. The Rome Lady Rebels 11th grade team defended their title from last year. The Rebels went 4-0 on the weekend, defeating Catskill Mountain in the championship game on Sunday by a score of 49-34. The Rebels reached the finals by beating the Syracuse Stars 46-36, Saratoga Sparks 57-43, and STNY Flyers 59-26. Top performers included Jordan Sahl with 39 points and 32 rebounds, Kati Gotch with 38 points and 21 steals, and Teresa Anken with 34 points and 27 assists. Morgan Wolanin was strong underneath, pulling down 22 rebounds and adding 10 blocks. The Rebels completed their season with a record of 15-6. The Rome Lady Rebels will host the 13th annual Shamrock Shootout on June 6-7 next year.
